In the book featured in the film, there is a little fable called ‘The Bear and The Fox’ which pushes the belief that a hypocrite deceives no one but themselves. The story made me realise that as humans we somehow convince ourselves of these wild delusions of grandeur. We can be so easily blinded to reality in order to protect ourselves. This got me thinking and lead to some in-depth research into DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), a mental disorder where a person has two or more personalities. This disorder is commonly caused by some sort of trauma, usually from a young age. ‘The Unmasking’ symbolises the false facade people wear in order to protect themselves from the past trauma, whether this is caused by themselves or others, we may never know.  ​
